The city of Bosanska Krupa is located in the northwestern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is one of the three cities and five municipalities of the Unsko-Sana canton and borders the cities of Biha\u0107 and Cazin and the municipalities of Bu\u017eim, Sanski Most and Bosanski Petrovac (Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina), Novi Grad and Krupa on Uni (RS), and with the municipality of Dvor in the Republic of Croatia. It is surrounded from the south by Mount Grme\u010d, and on the other side by relatively low hills and areas with a height of 200-300 m.<\/p>\n<p>rom the direction of Biha\u0107, the river Una flows through the basin through the very center of the city, and its right tributary Kru\u0161nica, passes from the south, goes around the hill Hum and flows into the Una at Veliki adam on the north side of the city. Bosanska Krupa is 34 km from Biha\u0107 and Bosanski Novi (Novi Grad), 122 km from Banja Luka, 148 km from Zagreb, and 250 km from Split.<\/p>\n<p>The climate of this area is favorable, with moderate temperatures, moderate humidity, relatively low cloud cover, considerable sunshine and no strong winds. The area of \u200b\u200btoday&#8217;s City was inhabited since prehistoric times. Localities called Gradine and other places in the vicinity remind us of this, as evidenced by the material evidence found from that time. The peripheral territory of the Celtic-Illyrian tribe Japoda belonged to the parish called Pset, whose name it bore, until the 10th century. In the 13th century, the name Pset is lost and the name Krupa appears for the first time, which has more meanings. The favorite legend of the people of Krupa is that Krupa was named after a girl named Krupana, who was building a fortress and threw herself into the river Una due to unrequited love. Medieval Krupa was the most important place in central Pounje, on the border of empires, which left its mark on the cultural and historical heritage, which was mostly destroyed by stormy wars and rebuilt again. It represents a characteristic and relatively well-preserved medieval fortification.
